Economy

The economy?

Now more than ever is it clear that many Americans have been cutting down on spending and making desperate attempts to save. The common household prices such as cereal and bread are also drastically increasing in price. Gas prices is something that has been causing to concern to many individuals. Carpooling has been increased in hopes to cut down on the amount of gas needed. Price increases on goods are being seen everywhere. I believe something MUST be done before it is to late. I often question the government’s efforts with our current economy issue. In the news it is often publicized on our efforts in other countries and not so much on what is being done here. I sometimes feel that before we can help others it is important that we help ourselves. It is necessary that we take pride in our nation to help restore it to its greatness.

While I was researching our current economy, I found that President Obama recently signed an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This act is linked to finding over 3 billion jobs for American citizens. It also is said in avoiding another Great Depression. This is just one of many acts that have been signed towards better our economy. Small Business Jobs Act will provide tax breaks and grant credit access to small business throughout the nation. Acts like these I think are the first steps in regaining our greatness. Today, the world is in a state of chaos. I think taking baby steps like these will generate a great outcome.

Abortion

I think the decision of abortion should be solely given to individual who is pregnant. I do not think their should be a law that hinders people to having an abortion. Certain situations and lack of attention make abortions necessary. I am not an advocate for killing innocent people and certainly not condoning the killing of babies. However, I do not believe that government has any right to take that option away from the woman who may need to get one. For this blog assignment, I started to look further into way people opted for an abortion. I found that the reasons varied from personal to even financial. Some of the reasons included; financial instability, teen pregnancies, school, health risk, and rap victims. After hearing some of these factors, I became more supportive of abortion. Say my sister who is 38 were to get pregnant and the doctors said she was not healthy enough to have this child. That in some time during her pregnancy she may die. To me her life is certainly more important that an unborn baby who I have never met. I am not saying she would have decided to terminate the pregnancy but should definitely have that alternative option.

I have always been very interested in the legal profession. Here is a website that shows different court cases of different abortion cases. http://www.abortionfacts.com/court_cases/court_cases.asp

Introduction

Hi my name is Kara Garrone and I will be graduating this May from the University of Rhode Island with a Public Relations major and a Communications minor. Last Spring I studied abroad in Thessolonikki, Greece. I absolutely loved it. I feel in love with the people, the culture, and the scenery. Since I am half Greek and half Italian it was no wonder why I felt an instant connection to the Mediterranean lifestyle. After Graduation, I will hopefully be attending law school. I am still waiting to hear back from the schools I applied to. I only applied to schools in New York because that is where I am from and where all my family lives. My family plays a large role in my life and makeup. My parents had me later in their life, making me a surprise to the rest of my family. My brother was 19 and my sister was 17 when I was born. Twenty one years later I am an aunt to my brother's and sister's children. My sister has 3: Luke, Riley, and Arianna. My brother has one son, Nicholas. I spoil them like my brother and sister did to me when I was growing up! I hope you all enjoy hearing more about me and reading my blog posts.
